History

In February 1999 the Department of Labour temporarily closed the North Sydney Forum. As a result of that one action, a diverse group of individuals comprised of Northside area residents and business people, came together to build a new arena. The result is the Northside Civic Centre Society and the facility itself, the Emera Centre Northside.

The founding board of directors includes:Emera Centre Northside - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The board of directors is supported by society members, donors, volunteers, and office and facility staff. The 161 Society members are community supporters who pay a nominal fee to join.  Members in good standing can attend any board meeting and cast votes on motions at the Annual General Meeting. Society members always respond when called to lend a hand with fundraisers or provide support and encouragement.  The society is still accepting members and you may join by contacting our office at 794-3839.
